Genital infections
Brazilian bikini waxing, where a woman has hair visible on her private parts removed in a beauty salon, has lately become very popular all over the world. However, the scandal caused in New Jersey recently may change that very soon. The authorities want to ban this type of waxing because two women suffered serious complications following the treatment in one of the beauty salons. Immediately after bikini waxing, both women got severe genital infections and one of the women even decided to file a lawsuit.

Bikini waxing has never been legal
The authorities said that bikini waxing had never been actually legalised. It was only allowed to wax the legs, face, neck, arms and the lower abdomen. The beauty salon owners have interpreted the law in their own way and also considered the vagina as the lower part of the abdomen. A Brazilian wax, where a special wax is used and hasn’t been actually banned, is an additional loophole in the law. However, things can change now because of the recent incident and that’s also one of the issues considered by the authorities in New Jersey as well as the authorities in other states. The final decision will be taken after the meeting of all the eminent members of the state Cosmetology and Hairstyling Board.

Salons will be fined
The law could already come into force in the middle of May and the beauty salons that’ll provide Brazilian bikini waxing despite the ban will have to pay heavy fines. Linda Orsuto, owner of a very popular beauty salon, West Salon & Spa, said for the media that she’d provided a Brazilian wax for almost two thousand clients only last year, meaning that this ban would be a heavy blow for her business. Or as she said: “In New Jersey especially, where the government has been picking our pockets for so long, it was like: ‘Just stay out of our pants, will you?’” Mrs. Orsuto also warns that the ban will force women do the treatment themselves which can really be dangerous because such waxing has to be done by professionals. Her anger has clearly achieved the goal because the authorities in New Jersey are thinking of scrapping plans to ban Brazilian waxing.
