Health care in Canada is one step forward
In Ontario, they plan to cover the sex change operation procedure.
After 10 years of negotiations in Ontario, the proposal on covering health care costs for the sex change operation has been approved.
The province of Ontario, Canada, will soon join the other provinces which, according to a health care insurance plan, already cover health care costs for the sex change operation, confirms the minister of health, George Smitherman.
According to him, they still need to go through the details, however, Ontario will very soon, the first time after 10 years, begin with payments for the for sex change operation. Previous conservative government rejected the proposal on covering the for sex change operation in 1998.
“Most probably, this will help 8 – 10 people in Ontario, who are appropriate candidates for such a change according to the psychological evaluations of the centre for addiction and mental health,” added the minister.
