Even Lily Allen Has a Third Nipple!
Less than 10 percent of people are born with a third nipple. If you don't want to wear a special accessory, there are ways to get rid of it.

What exactly is a third nipple and why it develops?
A third nipple is also called an ''accessory nipple''or a ''triple nipple'' while the medical term is supernumerary nipple. A third nipple is usually much smaller in size than the other two nipples. A third nipple is inborn and it can occur with men and women. Human fetus develops milk lines in its sixth week, which spread from the armpits to the belly and genitalia, sometimes they even reach feet. Until the ninth week these milk lines disappear, except for the breasts. In rare cases one of the milk lines develops into an extra nipple. If it is hard to imagine an extra milk line, try to picture a dog or a cat who have small nipples all over their belly to feed their young. People are usually born with two nipples but in rare cases a third or a fourth nipple appears.
Almost ten percent of people have are born with a third nipple.

The appearance of the third nipple is known under the expression of polythelia, which means ''more nipples''. Very often it is accompanied by polymastia which could be explained as ''more breasts''. Extra breast can be with or without an extra nipple. An extra breast develops in the same way as an extra nipple which means along the milk lines. In rare cases it can also develop on the neck, upper arm, shoulder, hips, thighs or on the back.

How to get rid of a third nipple?
A third nipple is not an unusual formation, but it can be aesthetically very disturbing. Some people are embarrassed because of a third nipple in front of their partner, while wearing a swimming suit or simply because they don't like what they see in a mirror. A person who decides to remove the third nipple undergoes a surgical procedure under local anesthesia. The surgeon removes the nipple and the milk line hiding underneath with a scalpel. The stitches are removed after fourteen days and the scar which is left after the procedure almost disappears with the right care.

Besides Chandler (Matthew Perry) from the hit sitcom Friends, there are also some other stars who confessed to owning a third nipple. Among them are Mark Wahlberg, who has quite a few problems with filming naked scenes because of his third nipple, a respected actress Tilda Swinton, Carrie Underwood from the American Idol who already removed it and also Lily Allen who showed her third nipple on the show called The Friday Night Project.
