Why Should We Have Sex at All?

Scientists raise questions why do we have sex at all, instead of cloning ourselves. Read about the advantages and disadvantages of procreation.

She says to Alice to run as fast as she can, so she will stay in place. We can see a similar phenomenon in organisms. They wildly reproduce to survive. From the evolutionary point of view, cloning or asexual reproduction is much more reasonable, at least from the viewpoint of success and the energy consumed. To preserve the species, we consume a lot of energy and use very complex mechanisms. Here cloning is definitively the winner. However….

There is a great problem in cloning. Along with all the positive characteristics, negative characteristics are also cloned in detail. Our immune system has to adapt constantly, otherwise it succumbs to the evolution of parasites, bacteria and viruses. If evolution chose cloning, it would probably not get very far. However, this known fact is not what confuses scientists the most. They are mostly confused by the fact that we only have sex and we have it too much. The development of enemies is slower than our development. It would all be just fine, if every other generation would have sex, and the one in between would be cloned. Namely, cloning has its advantages. It is much faster, more effective and the best characteristics do not mix with poor ones from any person. On the other hand, sex is complicated and it is a heaven for the development of diseases, and it is extremely wasteful and completely ineffective against mass cloning. Instead of doubling our size every month, we have a few children in the whole life at a maximum, an even those children can get the worst of both partners. If we also take into account death due to love, the calculation is quite crushing. But…

… all the analyses of the scientists have to acknowledge the wisdom of nature. Although we may not understand all the mechanisms (which is not the reason for the hypothesis about God), we have to admit that nature always chooses the best.
