The virginal skin is considered proof of a woman’s virginity. However, virginity can be disputable despite the presence or absence of the virginal skin.

All about the virginal skin

The hymen or virginal skin is a thick membrane which is usually crescent-shaped or has the shape of a rim and it covers the vaginal opening. In principle, the hymen is torn in the first sexual intercourse, so it rarely happens that the penis penetrates the hymen without tearing.  The imperforated hymen has an opening through which menstrual fluids escape, however, some women are born without the opening in the hymen  and it therefore happens that the penis cannot penetrate the vagina. In that case, a surgical procedure is necessary.

Normally, a small amount of blood appears when the virginal skin is broken, which many people consider as the proof of virginity of a girl. However, this is not a usual phenomenon because many women tear the virginal skin unintentionally before they have the first sexual intercourse, either with tampons or during a more bustling activity, for instance, gymnastics, bicycle riding, horse riding or masturbation. When it is broken, this phenomenon is called defloration. But even if a woman breaks her virginal skin herself and she has not yet had sexual intercourse, she is still considered virgin.

Virginal skin and folklore

Sometimes people believed that every virgin bleed in the first sexual intercourse. That is why the bride’s mother had to display blood-stained sheets after the first wedding night as proof that the bride was truly a virgin until she got married. If thing went wrong as regards bleeding, they used a few drops of hen’s blood, which was quite convincing. Today, many a woman decides on hymen restoration before marriage, which is called faking virginity.

Would you ever consider reconstructing your virginal skin? Why? Why not? Share your opinion in the Forum.
