Users of the virtual world »Second Life« are able to attend hours of sexual education. These lectures inform them about 
safe sex, sexually transmitted diseases and all possible problems which can appear in the field of sexuality.

The initiative for such a class came when the UK Youth Parliament pointed out that British youths do not get a sufficient amount of sexual education in school. Sexual education on second life is entrusted to Professor Barbara Hastings-Asatourian, who teaches health care and contraception at the University of Salford. “Over the last 12 months I have been looking at social networking sites as a way of getting through to young people. Far from just being a source of amusement for people, they offer a huge opportunity for education,” she said.

“Second Life” is a vast virtual world, populated by millions of users, who created their own desired 3D identity. In this virtual world users can – just like in the real world – attend various events, buy and sell stuff, make business and communicate with others. Why shouldn't they also get some education?
