Rough Sexual Intercourse Will Make You Happy

An unusual sex survey has revealed that Australians who enjoy bondage and discipline are in fact not damaged or dangerous. On the contrary, rough sexual intercourse can make them even more happy than people who do not try it in their sex life.

According to results of the survey, two per cent of Australians regularly partake in sadomasochistic role play as well as submissive-type role play in sex, or even dress as a fantasy hero or another idol. The survey, which included 20.000 Australians, breaks down the stereotype that they are doing that because they lack sexual intercourse or because they are attracted to sexual abuse.

“Our findings support the idea that bondage and discipline and sadomasochism (BDSM) is simply a sexual interest or a subculture attractive to a minority,” wrote the authors in the Journal of Sexual Medicine.

Who most often takes part in rough sexual intercourse?

It is more common among homosexuals, lesbians and bisexuals and the participants are also more sexually adventurous.

“However, they were no more likely to have been coerced into sexual activity and were not significantly more likely to be unhappy or anxious.” In fact, men who take part in such games are usually happier, and results show that they score low on a scale of psychological distress.

Why does rough sexual intercourse make people happy?

The researchers did not examine the reasons, but they suspect that the reason for greater satisfaction might simply be that these men are more in harmony with themselves because they are doing something unusual and something that they truly want and do it without any reservations.

The survey presumably goes against general views of BDSM (bondage and discipline, dominance and submission, and sadism and masochism). “People with these sexual interests have long been seen by medicine and the law as, at best, damaged and in need of therapy and, at worst, dangerous and in need of legal regulation,” said one of the authors of the survey who hopes results will help change the stereotype.
