New dating rules: Dinner is not an option

In the old days a man took his date to a dinner, dancing or maybe even to the theatre. But the times are changing and there is the so called MTV generation on the scene now. Dinner is an outdated method of dating and there is no time for it either.

Fast dating is popular nowadays, for example going for a drink or a coffee and maybe a short walk. Don't force her to have dinner with you or something similar which takes even more time. Be quick and efficient. If you drink alcohol you will lose some of your inhibitions, which means you have a greater opportunity for something more than just a hug on a first date. There's no point inviting your date to a fancy restaurant, it's outdated and you don't really know the person anyway. And you can save some money, too. This comes especially handy if you realize that you don't even like the person you're on a date with. If you're just having a drink you can make an excuse and leave at any time.

You can never go wrong with a hug at the beginning of a date. In this way you show you can be trusted and the atmosphere will become more relaxed. Right after the hug, pay a compliment to her looks and the way she smells and let her know you like it. This is a good way for showing her that you do not want to be just her friend.

Women like men who are clean and tidy. That's why you should wear something that is elegant and appropriate for the occasion. Don't forget to use a deodorant and an after shave, if you are freshly shaven. Don't wear a suit that makes you feel uncomfortable because it will affect your confidence. If you don't have anything appropriate to wear in your closet, borrow it from your friends or buy something new to wear. Going on a date with a girl you like is not the same as playing basketball, and that should be clear to you.

Even though the times of chivalry are over, it is still advisable to act as a true gentleman. Be elegant and act with style. Open the door, hold her coat, etc. Despite the fact that modern women like to be independent, they still like it if you act nicely. Treat her like a lady but at the same time don't exaggerate, or she will think that you are too old fashioned.

Women love it when you pay them compliments, so compliment her hair, her hands, her eyes, the smell of her hair, her lips, maybe even her cleavage. But be honest and don't over do it. It is important that you are also nice to others, for example the waiter, passers-by and to her friends, if you happen to meet them by chance. This will show your good will and positive energy, which is a rare quality nowadays.

Maybe you think that's not the best idea and that the girl will just be after your money then, but it is still appropriate that you settle the bill on a first date. Even though she absolutely insists to pay her part of the bill, you should not allow it, but think of it as a nice gesture. An honest woman won't have a problem with the fact that you pay her bill too, because she knows that the next time she can pay you back.
