1. The type and location of a wedding
Talk to your partner about the type of wedding that would both suit you. Do you want to organize a religious and a civil wedding, or only a civil one? Would you prefer an intimate ceremony, a lavish wedding or an average-sized wedding with only your closest friends and relatives? Discuss the most appropriate location and find out if it is possible to marry there and if the location requires any special permits.
Organize the type of wedding that will suit your personalities, wishes and also your financial possibilities. Exotic wedding arrangements are unforgettable but are generally planned as an intimate ceremony for two, because the price of travel packages for all the guests would be astronomical. How much time are you prepared to put into organizing your wedding? If you have little time, one of the options is to hire experienced wedding planers.
2. Wedding rings and a wedding dress
Because you will probably wear your wedding rings all the time and the rings will represent the symbol of your love for each other, you should choose them carefully. Women usually love jewelery and they want to show a nice wedding ring to all of their friends, while men usually swear by simple rings without any sparkling rocks, so a good deal of thought is necessary.
Are you going to buy or borrow your wedding dress? What kind of a dress would suit you most? A fairytale train is unforgettable but also completely useless to wear at future occasions while a simple dress can be used several times.
3. Wedding guests
The truth is that there's no point in inviting the people which you haven't seen for at least a year and you don't really have anything to say to each other or you even don't get along well. Invite people that make you feel good and that you regularly visit or, if they live far away, you often talk to them on the phone.
It is unavoidable that you will also have to invite their partners, because no one wants to come alone to a wedding alone, especially if there's dancing at the wedding party. Think about the seating order: your relatives, their partners and friends should sit together, and make sure that the people who don't like each other sit far apart.
4. A perfect wedding party
After you choose the wedding guests, send the invitations. You can choose a cheaper but less personal way and invite them by e-mail. Think about the type of party and catering you want to have. The options are numerous, from booking a dance hall to a home picnic. If you decide for a more relaxed option, you will save some money and the guests will be able to relax and change into something more comfortable.
You should also take into consideration quests with a special diet (for example certain allergies, vegetarians, etc.). In case there's children present, make a special menu and create a little playing corner for them.
