How many men use vibrators?

Two surveys conducted at the University of Indiana have shown that 
using a vibrator during the intercourse is very common. Vibrators were defined as any electronic device that pulses and vibrates in different amplitudes and frequencies in order to stimulate genital areas and strenghtens sexual drive. 53 per cent of women and 45 per cent of men between 18 and 60 frequently use vibrators, which positively affects their sexual satisfaction and health. The two surveys are the first record of frequency, way and purpose of using vibrators, their side-effects and connection with sexual satisfaction and health. 
The Centre for Sexual Health of the University of Indiana has, for the first time, made a thorough research about the use of vibrators among Americans, although psychiatrists and sexual therapists had long ago recommended the use of vibrators to heal sexual dysfunctions and for enhancing sexual enjoyment. 2, 056 women and 1,047 men aged between 18 and 60 participated in the survey,which was sponsored by the leading American manufacturer of sex toys. One of the surveys covered only women and the other only men; both of them were published in the Journal of Sexual Medicine, the leading journal in the field of urology and sexual health. »The use of vibrators among women confirmed what many doctors and psychiatrists have known for decades: their use is common and wide spread, it positively affects sexual drive and sexual health and has absolutely no side-effects,« said Debby Herbenick, an assistent at The Centre. Michael Reece, its manager, claims that the two surveys are of great importance for the understanding the sexual behaviour of adults in our society. »The survey has shown, that the use of vibrators is wide-spread among men as well, which has not been recorded scintifically up to this moment. Besides, it draws out attention to the continually expanding erotic toys' market, « Reece also added.

Results of the research among women:
- More that half of all women questioned (52.5 per cent) have already tried using vibrators; every fourth among them has used it in the last month.
- Women who frequently use vibrators visit their gynaecologists more often; they also often self-check their genitals.
- The use of vibrators is positively connected to many fields and issues of sexuality.
- The majority (71.5 per cent) has never experienced any side-effects of vibrator use.
Results of the research among men:
- Almost half of participating men have at least once in their lives used a vibrator. No serious deviations or differences were recorded as far as hetero- and homosexual men are concerned – the use among the two groups is approximately equally common.- Heterosexuals use vibrators during foreplay or sexual intercourse with a woman while only 9 per cent use it during masturbation.- 10 per cent of men have used it in the last month, 14.2 per cent in the last year and 20 per cent used a vibrator more than a year ago.- Men who use a vibrator are more aware of how important sexual health is and they more frequently examine their testicles.
