Facebook: Breastfeeding is obscene!
Angry women are determined to go against Facebook, which forbids photographs of breastfeeding.
At Facebook, they decided that breastfeeding is obscene. (jlp)
Tens of thousands of internet users have joined the protest of angry women who can’t understand what’s so controversial about a photo of a woman breastfeeding? Facebook decided that a photograph of a mother breastfeeding her baby is obscene and that these users can’t publish them on Facebook. The initiators of the protest turned to Facebok with these words: "Facebook, we expect more from you, and we expect you to realize that nursing moms everywhere have a right to show pictures of their babies eating, just like bottle-fed babies have a right to be seen."
Facebook sent warning letters to several thousand mothers to remove profile pictures with them breastfeeding. Unless they don’t comply, their access is disabled. (jlp)
We definitely have to agree with this protest. What could be more natural than breastfeeding? What could be obscene on a photograph of a woman breastfeeding? Anywhere we turn, we’re surrounded by photos of naked girls. If we type the word sex into google, we get 729 million hits. If we follow what goes on on Facebook just a little bit, we can see several photos which could be viewed as controversial, but they’re not prohibited.
The American hunt for exposed nipples already showed its sharpness a long time ago, when Janet Jackson showed her nipple during the Superbowl. At that time, we were also wondering what all the fuss was about. We really expected more from Facebook – welcome to 2009.
