Curiosities from the World of Animals
We present some amazing pieces of information concerning the animal world. The similarities to humans are highly amusing.
An Austalian type of anteater has a penis with four heads! Only two can enter the female simultaneously. (jlp)
Did you know that the Dendrobaena rubida worm is a hermaphrodite? In the animal world, that is not so strange, but their mating practices are. If it doesn't find a partner, it simply splits in half and has sex with itself. Scientists wonder why humanity hasn't developed in this direction because this strategy ensures offspring.
Penguins are regarded as a model of monogamy, but scientists have noticed that the female sometimes cheats on the male. Every time she does it, she gets a rock or some substance to build her nest with. This attitude is rare even with humans. A man would not give a woman like that anything, let alone a brick or a plank.
Penguins face infidelity, too. (jlp)
Fruit flies are even more interesting. If they are exposed to high concentrations of alcohol, males start doing strange things. They become hypersexual and try to mate with anything that has wings. So the drinking turns into an orgy, where males chase one another. But generally speaking, the probability of successful copulation is decreasing. Human, all too human.
The only species to employ French kissing as foreplay before intercourse, besides humans, is a type of parrot. But he shares his dinner with the female right afterwards, which happens only occasionally with humans, if they imitate fruit flies too much.
Size matters. People choose their partners according to race, education and fitness. Animals are only interested in power.
