The scandal involving monks happened in Thailand. Buddhist monks are shown in films as wise men full of advice on life and with the help of meditation, they do not even glance at women. But in this case, the reality is completely different because these monks used the internet to search for women who would visit them in their “holy temple” (where sex is strictly forbidden) and have intercourse with them.

The police actually kept one of the too lively and frolicking monks in custody and accused him of coming in contact with a woman, who then paid him a visit, over the internet. Supposedly, he ended up raping her. This is not supposed to be an isolated case. Some media have even accused the monks of selling drugs, which has brought a great stain on the entire Buddhist religion.

The users of the social portal Hi5 in Asia have been warned to ask the monks, with whom they get in contact, to leave the internet. Monks supposedly constantly flirt on this portal and send improper messages to girls. The monks were told that instead of looking for young girls on the internet they should teach young people about Buddhism and show them the right path, when it comes to sexuality as well.
