If you never or rarely feel a need for sexual activity, you will recognize yourself in the following article. Asexuality is not a decision, such as celibacy. It is simply part of every person, in the same way as homo- or heterosexuality. Asexual people do not feel any need for sexual activity.  Just like other people, they fall in love, enter into relationships or are single. Asexuality has no direct effect on their lives. It is just lack of sexual desire or response. Some asexual people are in relationships with sexually active people, and others seek asexual partners. Asexual people have normal relationships, because the basis of a relationship is formed by communication, closeness, entertainment, humor, trust, and not sexual activity.

Why do asexual people feel no desire for sex?

Asexual people do experience attraction, but they do not express it through sexual activity. Some asexual people have bursts of arousal, but they do not feel a need for a sexual partner. In general, they masturbate. Others never experience arousal, but they do not see it as a problem. Instead of making it a problem, they rather use the extra energy for work, entertainment or a relationship. Asexual people remain asexual for the whole life. Similar to homosexual people who rarely ''change into'' heterosexuals, asexual people do not ''change into'' sexual people. Asexuality is not meant to become a new trend. It is a useful word which helps people to describe their view on the sexuality.

The media does not pay enough attention to asexual people

It is interesting how lack of sexual desire is unattractive to the media. The fact remains that the phenomenon is still largely unexplored, and we know that there exist psychological and physiological reasons for lack of sexual desire. However, we should admit that sometimes we would all like to be asexual for a certain period of life. The wise men of Greece said – the life only begins when sexual desire goes out.
